"Say Her Name" is a new protest song from Janelle Monae to draw attention to the many unnoticed Black women and girls who have been murdered at the hands of police. It follows in line with the Say Her Name rally cry that began in the wake of George Floyd's murder. "Say Her Name" is a follow up to Janelle Monae's 2015 protest song "Hell You Talmbout" which also addressed police violence.

"We support the tireless work that #SayHerName has been doing for years to help bring these mothers justice for their daughters." says Monae. "This work is too important to do alone and can only be sustained through out collective voices. We Take up this call to action as daughters ourselves trying to create a world where stories like these are no longer commonplace."

With the help of other black women recording artists and activists, this 17 minute song elevates the names of these women and girls further encouraging us all to learn from these stories and ensure Black women and girls are protected at all costs. Some of the participants include Beyonce, Alicia Keys and Chloe x Halle.
