This weekend marks the 20th anniversary of Jennifer Lopez's 2nd studio album JLo. For the album she brought back a majority of the producers who had worked with her on her debut On The 6. This group included Cory Rooney, Troy Oliver, Dan Shea and Sean "P. Diddy" Combs.

At the time Lopez was in a high profile relationship with megastar P. Diddy. That led many to wonder if the 1st single "Love Don't Cost a Thing" was about their relationship. Shortly after it's release the couple would break up.

Lopez called this album more personal and romantic than her first. It featured Latin, Dance-Pop and R&B influences. The 2nd single to be featured was "Play".

As Lopez was becoming more a sex symbol she was also working on her acting career as well. Both this album and her movie The Wedding Planner were released the same week. The album debuted atop the US Billboard 200 and the film opened at #1 making her the first entertainer to have a number one movie and album at the same time.

The 3rd single "Ain't It Funny" was originally written for the movie but the director felt its latin influence was too much to be featured in the film. "Love Don't Cost a Thing" would end up being used in the film after an agreement was reached between Lopez and the director.

"I'm Real" would end up as the 4th and final single from the album. Both I'm Real and Ain't It Funny would receive high profile remixes but those would be featured on a subsequent release.

The remixes would garner much success and controversy. They still helped push the album as it would be named the 6th most successful album of 2001 worldwide. To date it has sold over 8 million copies worldwide and is certified 2Xs platinum in New Zealand. JLo certainly helped solidify Lopez as a popstar and sex symbol for the new millennium. Lopez exploded into a variety of endeavors including film and clothing after its success.
